Looking for a used motor...

Soon I am going to be looking for a new outboard for my jon boat. I am looking for opinions on a good solid used motor to look for. Right now I have a 72 Johnson 25 horse on it and it has some issues that with some money invested could be fixed but I would like to step up in horses instead of putting money into it. Looking for something between 25 and 40 horses with a tiller handle. Budget is $1000 or less....the less the better. I want something that is known to be dependable, easy to find parts and is easy to work on. Anyone have a suggestion?

Can't go wrong with a Johnson or Evinrude from the late 80s and early 90s. They are great motors and you should easily be able to find one in your budget. The key is to find one that has been well cared for and is in good shape.

Be picky!!!!!!! Your motor is the most important part of your set-up.
