Just picked up a new to me boat and motor for a winter/spring project! 1430 Jon and 10hp motor for $200 found a decent trailer to check out this weekend for $175. My brother told me its one of 2 happiest days as a boat owner. Next one is when you sell it! Lol.
Thanks! I might get this one fixed up with some floors, new transom wood, maybe paint and get something a little more stable. Have to see once it warms up enough to get it on the water! Also picked up an ez loader trailer for $180 yesterday.
Congrats!
I'm starting to think that ole saying applies to more expensive boats or complicated setups.
My boat isn't the prettiest, but it floats, doesn't leak drop and is very comfortable, and that's about all I expect out of it. :LOL2:
Old outboard motors can be a headache though! But I learned a lot over at iboats johnson/evinrude forum.
For an older motor like yours, you may want to checkout the antique outboard forum.
Have fun and good luck.
Lol a guy in Kansas city had the trailer and just used it for yard work and wanted in out of his drive way so I picked up a pretty good deal! Actually sold this boat back to the guy I got it from after he seen it fixed up for 500 I kept the motor and trailer and fixed him up with a 30 lb minn kota and deep cell battery. Going to look at another boat tonight! This is after paint on the old jon
New boat a little bigger this time! A 71 16ft richline with a 72 50hp Johnson console steer. New carpet and seats set up ready for it to warm up and get out this summer!
