Well after the short lived lowe 1648. I was able to pick up a new Alumacraft MV 1648 NCS with a yamaha 25. Going to be a few simple mods but the boat is what I was looking for. Had it out today got 1.5 hr of the break in done. Cant wait to put some fish in.

thanks guys. got the boat out an finished up the last part for the 2 hour break in afterward with about 500 lbs worth or people andgear ran about 28mph by gps speedometer on my phone plenty fast enough for me. ow time to bild the trolling motor mount and rig the lights.

thanks lowe was short lived due to family issues. Great boat but the alumacraft is nicer for sure

How did you wire up your front nav lights? I've got the same boat, and motor actually. Was thinking about fishing the wire through the top rail from the back all the way up.

The wire is ran through the top rail to where the v starts then run just under the rail in some 1/4 sprinkler lines to the lights. I wanted to run it in the rail all the way but due to the weld and rail is split and comes over the sides of the boat it would not make that first v bend. if you look just under the front edge in the trolling motor pic you can the tubing for the wires.

Finally got some more work done got the sheet cut for the trolling motor mount and cut the front battery hatch.

Was the front TM place you cut out void of foam from the factory or did you dig it out prior to taking the picture?

Also were the side rear deck pods totally filled with insulation when you added the storage compartments? I'm asking because I have the same boat in a flat bottom and have heard others say those rear pods are not totally full of foam. I'm trying to get a feel of if that's the way they all are or just some as I don't really want to remove factory flotation but would like to install some drop in storage back there.

Also were the side rear deck pods totally filled with insulation when you added the storage compartments? I'm asking because I have the same boat in a flat bottom and have heard others say those rear pods are not totally full of foam. I'm trying to get a feel of if that's the way they all are or just some as I don't really want to remove factory flotation but would like to install some drop in storage back there.

There was foam under the front deck it was 3 pieces one on each side of the storage area and one the width of the storage area. I removed the one and left the other 2. The back pod areas in my boat are about 90 filled for the power to the fuse pannel and fuses I removed enough to get the ob done and left the rest. The foam is not real hard or deinse I was able to break most of it out with just my hands or pocket knife. I can get a few pics from inside the hatches I cut if you want.

The 5 ti was bought by my fishing partner its a nice unit but if I was going to buy one I would get the 7 with all the features the 5 screen is to small. and the ti transducer is huge it will not fit on the trolling motor. I am going to get an elite 5 hook to use on the front and move the ti to the back when funds allow.
