I have a 1544 with a 15hp and its perfect for what I do. I take it to Clarks Hill lake all the time. Thats big water to me

Scott1298 » Yesterday, 23:47[/url]"]I have a 1048 and a 1542. I ran my 6 hp Merc on both; I couldn't believe how much water the 1048 pushed, I felt like it limited my speed. Heck, if you're getting a deal, buy the damn boat... the best boat is a cheap boat and you'll eventually suffer from footitis like the rest of us anyway!
If my 1542 ever cracks, I'm getting a 1544... because it's the biggest thing that will fit on my trailer. #-o

your shoirt length pushed more water because you were drafting less.

If you guys can't tell I really have always had the 1542 in my mind. My mod will be simple, just a front and rear deck. But it has high sides than the 1448 which will be better in deeper water!

So if you had a 1542 in mind the whole time then why do you ask for opinions? I personally wouldn't own a Tracker. I call em trashers but anyways if I ever replace my Jon ill probally buy a lowe or alumacraft. My new alumacraft is a beast with the Johnson 50hp. Hold on to your pantys I'm hauling butt to the fishing hole.

I guess I asked, and wanted to see what the opinions are of you guys. I currently have a tracker and love it. I'm not sure why people call them "trashers" or bash them at all. I have a mid 80's 10 foot-er and it doesnt leak a drop and is so functionally sound it's nuts!

Seems like a few years back there was some problems with the welds. Then I read customer service problems as well. Haven't heard of any problems with the newer ones though. Of course I could be wrong.

The problems were in the bigger hulls. They couldnt handle rough water well. You get what you pay for. I have a fisher. Made by tracker. Any other brand was 2x the cost. I wasnt willing to spend it for what I wanted to do.

I have a G3 1548, i like the size, plenty of room for 2 people & gear.
Tracker has a new 1548 sportsman very nice boat, but not cheap.

I have a 1232 Tracker also. It was bought new in 06 and Ive fished my balls off in that thing. I cant knock it because I had a 5hp briggs (junk), a 18hp evinrude, and it now has a good 9.8 merc. I developed a hair crack about 6 to 8in. alond the weld where the transome meets the floor but its only rated for a 6hp so me over powering and the weight of that 18 probally dont it but boy it sure was fun! LOL I just silicone it and it last for about a year then I do it again. Thats the reason I started looking for a new jon but I spent another 2 grand and got a 1650 Mod v with the 50hp Johnson TNT. Im still going to get another smal jon because You cant troll back up into them shallow narrow creeks with fallin timber in a big boat.
