Yes it is! I'm looking forward to it, actually. Normally, I do not like hot or even warm weather. This will be my first spring with a boat, though. I just want to go out and catch some fish!

The trailer now has the rollers and freshly carpeted bunks attached. =D> Just one more small step toward the finish line!

Well, the trailer is together, the boat is almost complete, and all looks to be ready for water! I actually ran out of paint for the boat, if anyone was wondering. Will try to get more and do the inside in the morning. I don't have any pictures of the bench tops, but they are coated with Helmsman and carpeted and are sitting in the boat. Pretty much all I have to do tomorrow is roll on a little paint, secure the bench tops, throw on the stickers and numbers, test the trailer lights, hook up to the truck, and go. I believe "phase one" is just about complete. Maybe one of these days I will get a decent picture. My phone doesn't know how to act with all the shadows around the house.

The boat had its first outing with me at the helm. We had 2 coolers, 2 guys, all kinds of fishing stuff, 2 batteries, trolling motor and the little 10 HP Seahorse. The boat did not leak a drop! It is much more stable than I thought it would be. Both of us were able to stand, move around, and fish. It handled boat wakes and choppy water very well. Even with all the weight, the boat made pretty good speed. No official numbers, but a hair under planing speed. We didn't know at the time, but that was at the motor's highest trim setting. We didn't actually notice that until after it was back on the trailer. Dropped it all the way down and ran it with just me and it went right up on a plane and was actually able to back off of the throttle. The high speed jet still needs to be adjusted, too!

We didn't catch much of anything, but still had a blast. Overall, I am very happy with this boat. For my uses, it will be vastly more useful and useable than the 1430 jon that it replaced. I still have a little work to do on it, but it is at least useable. Still needs the lights wired up, a little more paint, and a few random screw holes filled. Also, the trailer still needs work. The tires scrub the fender braces with anything more than the weight of the bare hull and the boat still doesn't sit correctly on the trailer. I think I will be able to make longer leaf spring shackles to fix the rub issue and maybe 2x6 instead of 2x4 runners. I will continue to keep this thread updated with progress and pictures. It won't be to long before I start building a deck and adding storage.
