I have been working on my boat mods and have recently put in a new floor. I'd like to wrap the floor in carpet which I have outdoor carpet adhesive and stainless staples for. I'd also like to extend that carpet up the gunwales. It has the original paint inside and is in good condition so I won't be removing it. Would the outdoor adhesive I have work for this application or do I need to get something else?

What did the directions of the adhesive say? I think it would be okay. I used my outdoor adhesive decking my boat over varnish which the directions advised against. One thing I did was buff the substrate with 320 grit sand paper which hopefully will give the adhesive more "biting" power to bond to the substrate. Good luck.

Personally I would use a "spray" adhesive. There are different types so get one recommended for carpet. Spraying on both surfaces and letting each "set up" a couple minutes usually results in a very strong bond. (They say permanent, but I'm not 100% sure about that)
