    1960 Lone Star Holiday

I'm helping a friend modernize his outdated Lone Star closed bow utility runabout. It's a deep semi-V, 16' long with a 76" beam: The first order of business was to cut out the covered bow that wastes lots of good deck and storage space: Then there's the old timey box seat bases: Gone...

    Spring Crappie Report (with pics!)

After a brutal winter and our lake water temp dropping down to 37*F with shore ice out to water 20' deep the water warmed up to 48* at the end of February, warm enough for some long line trolling. Depending on the water temp. I troll from 0.8 to 1.4 mph (gps). The warmer the water the faster the...

    Killer Trash Fish!

Was out on the lake for a couple hours yesterday and got this thing. https://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v203/greencoachdog/?action=view&current=Buffaloattackpart1.mp4

    Mixed Bag Monday

Got out Monday afternoon for some Crappie trolling. Things started off kind of slow (as usual). The first fish was this this Spotted Bass: Not a huge fish, but a nice specimen that put up quite a fight on the UL Crappie tackle. It was released after the pic. Tried a couple of other places...

    Last Day of Summer

Since yesterday was the last day of summer I decided to spend it on the water and terrorize some fish. It was a beautiful day, bright sunshine with Bluebird skies and a high of 85*F. I didn't have my hopes set too high on catching many fish because of the clear skies and warm temps, but the...

    Fall Crappie Bite Preview

Got out Tues. from 2:30-6:00 pm after the hard rain stopped. Was still a heavy mist/drizzle with an ESE breeze. Rain had cooled the water down to 82*F from 86* 2 weeks before and 91* a week before that. Wasted 45 min checking a couple of places on my way to the honey hole, but first pass over...

    Last 2 Trips

Haven't been getting out much, but I catch a few whenever I go. First trip was with an old friend back in March. Last trip was a couple weeks ago by myself. All fish were caught on my homemade jig heads and southern pro plastic grubs.

    NewWood

A new product coming out that is specified for marine applications like transoms and such, would probably make a good decking too. https://www.newwood.com/ It's available on the west coast now and is supposed to go nationwide soon.

    Some Nice Fish

I like to flat line troll for Crappie with UL spinning rods and reels and 8 and 10' noodle rods with UL reels, I use 6 and 8# test line with 1/16 oz. jigs and 2" curly tail grubs. I've been experimenting with jig color because it really makes a difference in the waters I fish. What is called...

    21 Today

Started fishin' at 10:30 this morning and had 21 keepers by 2:00 pm. Could've easily limited out (30) if I had stayed for the 2:00-4:00 bite... but wanted to get the boat tucked away before dark for the big rain tomorrow. Had several nice slabs, here's 2 of the bigger ones. I gave todays...

    17 Today

Only 3 or 4 big'uns, but the rest were keepers. Had just as many or more short fish... but they don't count. I looked for someone fishing off a dock or the bank to take them because I got a freezer full, but no one was out so I threw them all back to be caught another day.

    Only 4 Today

Only managed to get 4 Crappie and 1 White Bass today, but with the wind blowing like it was I thought that was pretty good. What the fish lacked in quantity, they made up for in quality. 3 were real nice slabs and one of those was a brute!

Another Couple of Decent Days on Neely Henry.

Got out on Fri. and Sat. and the fish were still biting pretty good. 2 of the 3 biggest. The majority of the fish bit on the electric chicken color jig: ... but the 3 big slabs in the second pic wanted the popsicle color instead and the smaller fish wouldn't touch it. The bigger...

Decent Day on Neely Henry (Coosa River)

Got the boat out on the water for the first time since the restoration yesterday and did some trolling for Crappie. Didn't catch anything for the first couple of hours, not even a sniff and was fearing the skunk! Then all of a sudden the fish turned on and I had some pretty good action...

    Totally nautolexed (vinyl)

Been bustin' my butt on this every day for the last couple of months and thought I'd post some pics. With hatches open: Hatches closed: I've still got a few things to do, but should be back on the water in a day or two.

'97 Tracker Pro Deep V From Carpet to Vinyl.

I've been taking my Tracker apart and ripping carpet off of decking for the past few day and thought I'd post some pics. I did this about 6 years ago and it kinda irks me to have to do it again, but it's my own fault for not using the right materials. I used the Home Depot "marine" carpet and...
